July 1st, 2003, the ¡°Neusoft IIT First Graduation Ceremony¡±
was held ceremoniously in the world report hall of Neusoft IIT.
Dr. Wen Tao, Vice President of Neusoft Group and President of
Neusoft IIT, awarded the Bachelor Degrees and Certificates of
Honour to the first graduates at the ceremony. They are the
first internationalized, pragmatic and individualized multi-disciplinary
graduates who were cultivated by Neusoft IIT and guided by the
school educational philosophy of ¡° Education Creates the Values
of Students¡±.
President Wen Tao said that the first
graduates not only proved their ability to society with their
effort but also showed our school¡¯s strength. We are so glad
and gratified that they stepped into their learning field and
well-known overseas and domestic companies such as GE, Neusoft
and Dalian Hi-Think Computer Technology Co.Ltd and some students
carve out work by themselves. He hopes that the graduates can
adjust their attitude and make a new start with a confident,
creative and surefooted style. Besides, he stated that the future
society is a lifelong learning society. No matter if in the
field of IT or some traditional industry, only through perfect
our knowledge structure and renewing the knowledge continuously
can we obtain the sustaining power of self-development.
Neusoft IIT has achieved great success
in training IT talents during the two years¡¯ since its establishment
and development. The first 187 graduates of our institute are
about to step into society and their positions, of which 174
are from our top-up program and 13 from our bi-degree program.
There are 80 students who majored in computer science and technology
and 107 students who majored in information technology and business
management. Some of the students had some working experience
before they entered the school. So through two more years¡¯ edification
of the new-type IT institute, they can not only get overall
training on IT knowledge, but also get the specialized and systematized
training on the ability of applying IT knowledge, the ability
of business management, the ability of communication, and the
ability of using English and Japanese.
2003 is the year in which the number
of graduates increased in the largest range after an enlarged
enrollment in Chinese universities. The intending number of
graduates in the whole Liaoning Province is 100,000, which is
28,000 more than in 2002. Although nowadays the global IT industry
has fallen into decline and IT companies employ less and less
new personnel, Neusoft¡¯s first graduates are favorites with

Software Co., Ltd., Edge Software Development (Dalian) Co.,Ltd,
Dalian Chinasoft software Co., ltd, KAWASAKA Heavy Industries.
ltd, NIDEC(DALIAN) LIMITED, Shanghai ALPS Logistics and so on.
Tan Qian, a top-up program student of
0101 Information Technology and Business Management, was
the director of Study Department of the Neusoft¡¯ Student Union
and was the secretary of the Computer Technology Association.
She won the first prize in the National English Contest for
College Students in July, 2002, and was awarded Neusoft¡¯s 2001-2002
¡° ¡®three-goods¡¯ student award¡±, a ¡°Top 10 student award¡± and
a ¡°Special contributive award¡±. Her outstanding experience and
specialized quality attracted GE and has been employed as a
Financial Analysis Specialist.
Four students passed the National Entrance
Test for MA/MS Candidates and entered leading universities to
further their study. One entered Peking University, one entered
Northeastern University and two entered Dalian Maritime University.
The enterprises are quite satisfied
with the graduates¡¯ quality in various aspects, especially with
the advantage of their Japanese. The companies in the area of
Dalian, especially in the IT circle, have a relatively high
requirement of graduates¡¯ Japanese and our institute has strengthened
it¡¯s Japanese teaching to cater for the requirement. In the
interview of Tianjin Taida Storage and Transport Co., ltd, a
graduate of our institute communicated with its Japanese manager
in Japanese, which got a favorable comment from the company.
The companies tested the graduates¡¯
oral English in the interview and their common feeling is that
Neusoft¡¯s students can master English well due to the school¡¯s
strength in teaching English.
In order to strengthen the students¡¯
international competitiveness in ensuring the students¡¯ basic
knowledge, Neusoft IIT promote students¡¯ value on almost every
aspect of specialized knowledge, practical skills, communication
ability, work experience and view of science and technology.
The innovative ¡°1321¡± instruction model is 1 academic year of
3 semesters, 2 semesters of theory and 1 semester of internship,
which effectively integrates theory and practice. The model
fastens the academic process and enables students to participate
in the development and practice of the latest technology in¡°SOVO¡±£¨Students
Office & Venture Office£©and cooperative companies. The successful
implementation of the new teaching model established a bridge
between theory and practice for the first graduates.
The undergraduate Start-up center¡ª¡°SOVO¡±(students
office & venture office) is the most important section of
the innovative education module of Neusoft IIT. Through strict
engagement and selection, ¡°SOVO¡± organizes and adds applicants
into the ¡°virtual companies¡±. There even is a ¡° Board of Director¡±
set up. The V-CEO is responsible for the management of the ¡°virtual
company¡± and the students are given opportunities to take different
posts. There are more than 160 graduates who have worked in
SOVO and carried through the development and research of the
projects under the direction of the tutors. SOVO cultivates
students¡¯ entrepreneur spirit, allowing easier access to enterprise
culture later, realizing the seamless link with IT industry¡¯s
talent needs, strengthening their competitiveness and giving
them experience in starting up a company as well. Under the
direction of the tutors, two virtual companies have been incubated
to real entities among Neusoft¡¯s first graduates through two
years of practice. Using management experience, communication
and project development in the virtual company of SOVO,V-CEO,
Guo Lei, V-PM Liu Weifeng of v ¡°SUN SERVER Co.,ltd¡± and V-CTO
Dai Yue invited twelve students to step onto the real carve-out
road with the dream of starting their own enterprise.
The Neusoft¡¯s first graduates who were
born from the ¡°1321¡±instruction model has obtained the high
evaluations of the companies through two year¡¯s education of
the absolutely new teaching philosophy. The companies appraised
that Neusoft¡¯s graduates were very practical and possessed the
good qualities in engaging in the IT industry. The first graduates
made the institute¡¯s teaching philosophy pass the test of the
market successfully. The teaching philosophy catered to the
requirement of companies and showed the foresight and correctness
of the teaching mode, which stresses cultivating pragmatic,
internationalized and individualized talents.
In addition, the 187 graduates have
graduated and we wish the graduates of 2003 smooth sailing.
