     On May 25, 2001, the exam for the 4,500 2002 entrants rang simultaneously in 9 exam spots (Dalian, Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin, Jinan, Chengdu, Nanhai, Fuzhou, Haikou and Changsha) in 9 provinces. Before that, similar test had been given in 2001.This test was hosted by the IIT, the first professional IT institute. 1,700 applicants took part in the test. The test in 2002 was a new record and indicated that the joint efforts of Northeastern University and Neusoft were widely recognized.

     The test was aimed at recruiting the entrants on 3 levels: the 4 year bachelor degree, 2 year transfer students, and the 2 year second bachelor degree. Much attention was brought to the exam and the recruiters were pursued at every recruiting spot: Dalian (over 1,000 applicants), Shenyang (over 800 applicants), Harbin (over 600 applicants), Chengdu (over 700 applicants), Jinan (over 150 applicants), Nanhai (over 700 applicants), Haikou (over 60 applicants), Changsha (over 90 applicants), Fuzhou (over 90 applicants).

    In order to strengthen strictness, justice and fairness, a Committee for the Autonomous Exam was established which stipulated The Provisions for The Autonomous Exam For Northeast University Neusoft Institute of Information Technology and provided professional training before the exam for over 800 proctors. During the exam, all the exam procedures were observed and the supervisors from the relevant education departments were sent to monitor the exams.
